Catelynn and I are both 17 going on 18 and this is our senior year.
Although Catelynn getting pregnant at 16 was a big challenge for us
and put an extreme hold on things from our crazy life, me and
Catelynn came to the decision that placing our daughter (Carly) up
for adoption was the best choice for the future of our daughter. It
was the hardest thing we will ever do but as parents we made the
sacrifice of not raising her and being with her all the time to only
better her life and give her to a Christian family who has longed
and waited for a child of their own after having been unsuccessful
in having their own biological children.
Brandon and Teresa, a well-rounded, religious family from North
Carolina, have the joy and gift of being Carly’s parents. We only
did what we thought was the best for our daughter. I believe that
when you become a parent no matter what the age you have to put that
child before yourself and it is your job to deliver that innocent
child the absolute best possible life. In mine and Catelynn’s eyes,
adoption was the best option. Me and Cate chose a completely open
adoption, which means that we get pictures, letters, emails, phone
calls, and even face-to-face visits with our daughter. We handmade a
baby blanket and a scrapbook for her to have so when she is old
enough to understand she can really look back and see the reasons
why me and Catelynn made our decision to give her a life we couldn’t
provide.
I wrote a letter to my daughter before she was born to always hold
on to and always look back and read whenever she has thoughts or
simple questions an adoptee usually has. I love my daughter with
every bit of soul, heart, spirit, bone, and breath in my body and
because of what we did, I truly believe that she will always know
how much me and Catelynn love her and will one day eventually come
to us and say "thank you, thank you Tyler and Catelynn for giving me
this wonderful life that I may not have been able to experience.”
Carly, you are in our thoughts every day...I love you baby girl with
all my heart and so much more...don’t ever forget that!
